I am a journalist specialising in deeply-reported, narrative feature articles from across India.
I have reported and written on a diverse range of topics, from a recent long-read on the Indian victims of cyber scam rings operating from South East Asia, to how the state of Kerala is fighting the global menace of antimicrobial resistance through its innovative policies to a cover story on the incredible rise and staggering fall of a billionaire from coastal Karnataka, all thanks to a misdirected tweet (as it was known then). I was also a co-host of The Morning Brief, the flagship podcast of The Economic Times.
While I’ve covered politics, business, ecology, gender and culture for India’s premier business publications, I am particularly drawn to people-centric stories and enjoy bringing these to life for the reader.
In 2023, I was a Chevening South Asia Journalism Programme Fellow, spending two months at the University of Westminster in London. I am also the recipient of fellowships from the International Centre for Journalists and the Global Investigative Journalists’ Network. For my work, I was awarded the Business Standard-Seema Nazareth Award for Excellence in Print Journalism and the Polestar award for Best Good News Feature.
I started my career in New Delhi and spent a few years there in the newsrooms of Business Standard and The Economic Times, before moving to Bangalore as the first features writer to cover South India for Business Standard. I have grown rather fond of the city despite the usual complaints (the traffic! the roads!). I continue to be based there but I report from across the country. In my last assignment, I was Senior Assistant Editor with The Economic Times.
